Sadghyl Coire was my very first registered Border Collie. She was the first to carry my prefix and Coires was registered with the I.S.D.S in the early seventies. Unfortunately, the K.C. would not allow me to use it so I shuffled the letters around and they allowed me to have Cories. I now have two prefixes!

From Coire I kept a puppy called Sweep. Coires Sweep was my first obedience/sheep herding dog, who also qualified for Crufts in breed before C.C. status was awarded to Border Collies. Sweep was the cause of my interest in sheep, but it was going to be ten years later that I was to get my own sheep.

All my notable dogs have had life qualification for Crufts, but I do not pursue C.C.s so generally my dogs only appear in the breed ring on special occasions. My main interests lie in producing nice looking dogs of good temperament and working ability.

Sadghyl Merrye was my first trialling dog. A blue merle tri bitch, she twice attempted the K.C./I.S.D.S. working test but failed by only one point!

Whitethorne Rip was a gift to me from Allan and Mary Heaton, who decided that I needed 'a proper working dog'. He came with a beautiful Crook, which I still use. Rip gave me years of fun and even produced a Show Champion, Mizanne the Joker.

Whenway Laird, sired by SH CH Tork of Whenway, was more a show dog than most of my dogs, but he could work if he felt like it! Laird was good at posing and together with Rip he earned his living in advertising. His and Rip's portraits are famous and can be seen on cards, key rings and posters everywhere.

Whenway Misty, sired by SH CH.Reakasso Ryan. She is still going strong at twelve years of age, and is still a very keen worker. Destined as a puppy to go to New Zealand, I told Sheena she mustn't send a puppy THAT pretty, so Sheena told me that I had better have her - and I have never regretted that decision! Mist has produced some cracking puppies and they have travelled to homes all over Europe. She is also dam of Rhys.

Cories Rhys, my action man. Rhys loved everything we did together - obedience, agility and showing. Rhys became 'uncle' to many Kelpie and Border Collie litters. Rhys's puppies all carry his fantastic temperament and good looks. Sadly Rhys was taken from me by the big 'C' in January '06 at the age of only four.

Canen Merrie-ell at Cories is an 11mth Red Merle boy. He has just joined us but is showing enthusiasm for most disciplines. He is dual registered and descended from the old Sadghyl lines. He is Optigen Normal by parentage and will be hip scored at twelve months.
